Free Pizza For Life

Pizza Oven

My friend has a pizza oven and the pizza was delicious, so for Christmas, I thought it would be a good present. I was interested in the Ooni Koda 12. The original price was $329, but for Thanksgiving it was 20% off. At Bloomingdales there is also a 15% coupon, which brought the price to $223. Then Amex had an offer for $15 back on $75. I clicked through Rakuten to get 10 Amex points per dollar, so that is like another $22, so the effective after-tax price was around $200.

The much larger Koda 16 was $500. At one point it was sold at Bloomingdale’s as well and I should have snagged one with the same deal I got above. However, given that was not an option, I found it at a few retailers including Crate and Barrel. I found a 10% coupon, but bought a 15% off on ebay for $4. That brought $75 off and I bought some gift cards from Raise.com which gave me 5% in rewards, so after tax it was around $450.

Pizza

I didn’t need two, so I sold the first one for $400 after fees and shipping. Meaning I spent $250 to get a $500 pizza oven!

However, I saw how there was a shortage, so of course I decided to buy some more to resell. However, mine were also on backorder, so when I did get the 12″ ones I ended up selling some at the retail price, probably because it was after Christmas and no longer in high demand. Fortunately since I used so many discounts I still came out slightly ahead after eBay fees and shipping a very heavy item. However, I also had ordered a few of the 16″ ones and those still had a small premium.

So after selling all the ovens I got to keep one oven and made a profit. Therefore free pizza for life! Well, I still have to buy the ingredients and propane.
